Kilimanjaro Day Trip

Your day begins with a private morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Enjoy a scenic drive through vibrant Chagga farming villages, coffee plantations, and banana groves on the lower foothills of Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival at Marangu Gate (1,870m), your guide will finalize national park registration formalities before you step across the boundary into Mount Kilimanjaro National Park.

Embark on a gentle, steady hike along well-maintained trails winding through the lush, moss-draped montane rainforest. Watch and listen for troops of black-and-white colobus monkeys and blue monkeys playing high in the tree canopy, as well as native birdlife. Arrive at Mandara Hut (2,720m) around midday for a fresh, relaxing picnic lunch. Following lunch, take a short 15-minute excursion to the rim of Maundi Crater, offering expansive panoramic views across northern Tanzania and into southern Kenya on clear days.

Retrace your steps down through the serene rainforest back towards Marangu Gate. The downward gradient is easy on the legs and allows you to absorb the peaceful sights and sounds of the jungle. At the park gate, bid farewell to your mountain staff, board your private transfer vehicle, and return to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha in time for evening dinner.
